The Exeter Food and Drink Festival begins this Saturday (29th April), running until Monday. The Festival is an annual event held in the courtyard of Exeter Castle and the surrounding Northernhay Gardens, right in the centre of Exeter.
Last year, the festival attracted over 20,000 people, and this year is shaping up to be the best one yet. We have some of the finest culinary talent, eateries and artisan producers in the country, right here in the south west.
It’s no surprise that the festival continues to grow year on year, as the rest of the country realises just how much we have in Devon to attract enthusiastic foodies.
We’ll be sending along our own talent, in the form of our Chef Director Darrin Hosegrove, and Chef Operations Manager Rob Spencer to represent Ashburton Cookery School, and to share their vast knowledge with the festival masses.
BBC Radio Devon (95.7 and 103.4FM) will be covering the event, and Darrin will be joining them on Saturday morning at 11.15 to debate the latest food trends.
Then at 2.15 Chefs Darrin and Rob will be demonstrating a number of dishes from some of our newest and most popular courses for those who are lucky enough to be able to find a seat.
Since we debuted our Cook To Go evening classes in January, they have exploded in popularity. Starting with Indian takeaway, Thai and Italian soon followed. Now, beginning on Saturday 17th June, we have added Moroccan To Go to our repertoire. You can see the dishes Chef Rob has been test driving for this new course, below.
For those of you that are able to attend on Saturday, our expert chefs Rob and Darrin will be demonstrating the following dishes…
From India, Mangalorean Style Chicken Curry.
From Thailand, Rice Paper Spring Rolls with Sweet Chilli and Cucumber Salad, and…
From Italy, Linguini with Seared Tuna, Fresh Pesto and Green Olives.
We hope to see you there.
