Job Summary: You will be required to keep up with general cleaning and washing up duties throughout the day to create a professional working environment running with the up most efficiency in our brand new kitchens.

This is very much a customer facing job and you will need to work well under pressure using your own initiative so that the mature students experience the high standards of hygiene and cleanliness that are expected within a teaching environment.

The job is situated in a fast paced and challenging environment and requires a positive attitude to succeed.

The cookery school is located between two sites in central Ashburton. Punctuality is important to this role, and whilst Ashburton has a regular bus service, you should ideally have access to car transport.

Responsible for:
  1. To provide a clean and organised kitchen environment that is ready for the chefs and students to work in.
  2. To provide a warm welcome to students at all times including meeting and greeting
  3. To keep up with any general cleaning and all washing up duties as efficiently as possible to help keep the teaching kitchens running smoothly.
  4. To help set up any ingredients for the next teaching day. This will include exact measuring and scaling of recipes according to preparation lists.
  5. To plan ahead so that the Ashburton Cookery School can run as efficiently as possible and that no time is wasted.
  6. To adhere to all up to date health, safety and hygiene procedures in line with Ashburton Cookery School policies.
Location: Old Exeter Road, Ashburton, Devon TQ13 7LG
Hours: As a general rule the job works on a shift rotation basis you would be expected to start an early shift at 8am on some days and finish a late shift at 8pm on other days depending on the courses that are running.

Your rota would be based on 40 hours per week.

Days of Work: This is a 7 day a week business and you may be asked to work any day of the week.
This is a shift working position, including weekends and bank holidays and the hours may vary day to day due to the nature of the work
Salary: £7.25 per hour
Holiday: 28 days per annum (incl. public holidays).
Qualifications Required: Training will be provided
Skills Required: Training will be provided
Experience: Previous experience of a commercial kitchen environment is ideal but not essential.
