Vanilla pods are amazing things but come at a price. So check out this simple recipe that will open up a whole load of culinary delights!
Once you have scraped and used the seeds from your pods, don’t throw them away. Dry them out in a low oven or in a airing cupboard until brittle and use in the following recipe.
- 2 used and dried vanilla pods
- 400g Castor Sugar
- Place both the ingredients in a food processor and blend on full speed for a couple of minutes.
- Store in a sterilised jam jar for upto a year.
Use in replace of castor sugar in recipe’s but great with the following:
- Baked seasonal fruits
- icecreams and custards
- cakes and sponges
